Swiss Franc Shows Weakness Against Majors; Small Morning Hours On Tuesday,Tuesday, May 08, 2007 3:42:16 AM

The Swiss Franc lost ground against the other major currencies during the small morning hours on Tuesday in New York. Until about 2:15 am ET, the Swiss Franc ticked higher against the dollar and the Yen, but it showed a choppy trend versus the Euro. The Swiss Franc edged down thereafter. However, against the Cable, the Franc started trending lower at about 2:30 am ET. Currently the major Swiss Franc pairs are continuing its downtrend.

The German March industrial production is what the data expected by the traders as of now, followed by the US wholesale sales data for the same month later in the morning. The British Nationwide consumer confidence and the BRC retail sales for April are expected later in the day.

The US dollar drifted higher versus the Swiss Franc in the evening hours on Monday. After collecting as much as 1.2136 by about 8:50 pm ET, the pair dropped off heavily to 1.2102 by about 2:15 am ET Tuesday. The dollar then rebounded most of its losses and fetched 1.2128 Francs as of 3:40 am Eastern Time.

During the late evening deals on Monday, the Euro ticked up against the Swiss Franc. At about 8:50 pm ET, the pair declined slightly and showed a choppy trend thereafter. The pair extended the same trend into the small morning hours on Tuesday but has been trading higher lately. As of 3:40 am Eastern Time, a Euro traded at 1.6499 Francs.

Against the Swiss Franc, the Cable showed strength on late Monday in New York, but by about 11:15 pm ET the pair gave back some of its gains. However, the Cable made a sharp spike higher at about 2:30 am ET Tuesday and has been continuing its uptrend currently. As of 3:40 am Eastern Time, a Cable was quoted at 2.4176 Francs.

On late Monday in New York, the Swiss Franc made a steep fall against its Japanese counterpart. The Franc gained a few pips by about 10:00 pm ET but the pair moved down again shortly after. After hitting a low of 98.81 by about 11:30 pm ET, the Franc traded slightly higher. The pair lost ground again at about 2:15 am ET Tuesday and has been weakening further of late. As of 3:40 am Eastern Time, a Franc collected 98.83 Yen.
