Dollar Gains On Other Majors With Afternoon Rallies, Monday, May 07, 2007 4:00:18 PM

The greenback was up against the other major currencies on Monday morning in New York. The dollar advanced on the euro, pound and yen in the late morning and early afternoon. The buck was range-bound with all three entering the morning, but slipped versus the euro, before bouncing back.

The U.S. dollar climbed in afternoon trading against the euro to return to its overnight levels. The currencies were range-bound until about 7 a.m. ET when the dollar began to slip. It got as low as 1.3627 at 8:30 a.m. before stabilizing. At a little after noon ET, the buck rallied and got as high as 1.3595 at around 3:30 p.m.

The greenback climbed out of a range with the sterling in the afternoon in New York on Monday and was up for the day. Trading between the pair was flat since 9 p.m. Sunday night. The dollar made a move at around 11 a.m. ET and reached as high as 1.9924 at 3:15 p.m. ET.

The dollar climbed against the yen in mid-day trading and was up for the day on Monday. The greenback fell Sunday night in New York and at around midnight ET reached its lowest level in about five days. Trading stabilized from there around the 119.90 mark. The dollar began to climb at around 11 a.m. ET and reached as high as 120.11 at 3:15 p.m.
