The yen was down against the U.S. dollar on Monday in New York, slipping for most of the morning. The yen declined starting at around 10 p.m. ET Sunday night and reached as low as 120.45 at 10 a.m. on Monday. The yen bounced back slightly after that. In general, the pair has been in a range for about 10 days.
The yen was slightly ahead of its overnight levels against the British pound. The yen got as low as 238.60 at around 7 a.m. and climbed to a daily high of 238.06 at 10:30 a.m. In general, trading has been flat since mid-day Friday in New York.
The yen fell versus the euro on Monday morning in New York, but made up most of those losses. The Japanese currency slipped at around 6 a.m. ET before leveling off for several hours. It bounced back in the late morning close to its overnight levels.
