Energy Prices Gain Early, Friday, June 15, 2007 10:18:22 AM

Energy prices firmed up slightly on Friday morning in U.S. trading. Crude oil continued to surge, pushing towards the $68 mark. Natural gas, heating oil and gasoline also advanced.

Oil prices gained in early trading on Friday in U.S. trading Crude oil for July was at $67.77, up 12 cents. It climbed as high as $67.98, a six-week high, at 9:40 a.m. before retreating.

Natural gas for July was up in U.S. trading on Friday morning, adding 50 cents to $7.858. It climbed to a weekly high with the early advance.

Heating oil extended its highest level in months with a slight rise at the start of Friday`s trading. July-dated heating oil was up 0.34 cents to $2.019 after posting sharp gains in the two previous sessions to reach the high.

Gasoline climbed in early U.S. trading on Friday. RBOB gasoline for July was at $2.2671, up 4.24 cents on the session. It reached as high as $2.2795 earlier in the day, a two-week best.
