British Currency Choppy Against Dollar And Euro, Strong Versus Yen, Monday, June 18, 2007 2:34:18 PM

The sterling was varied in action against the dollar and euro on Monday afternoon in New York, while seeing strength against the yen. The pound moved as the Bank of England`s quarterly bulletin for 2007 was released for the second quarter, starting that inflation expectation may fall back as energy price pressures ease.

In trading against the euro, the sterling saw little movement in action on Monday. By the mid-afternoon, the British pound had moved between a low of 0.6768 and a high of 0.6751. Overall, the British currency is within the range of the past three and a half months.

Versus the dollar, the British currency saw little movement as trading moved on Monday. As action reached the mid afternoon, the pound held between a low of 1.9802 and a high of 1.9839. In general, the sterling is at a ten day high against the American currency.

The British currency edged up against the Japanese yen on Monday. By the mid-afternoon, the sterling had advanced to a mark of 245.10. On the whole, the British currency is at a multi-year high against the yen.
