Yen Slips Versus World Counterparts On Monday Afternoon, Monday, June 11, 2007 2:48:14 PM

The yen slipped against its major world counterparts in action on Monday afternoon in New York. The Japanese currency traded as Japan released revised GDP numbers for the first quarter.

The Japanese currency was weak against the sterling in trading on Monday afternoon. The decline brought the currency to a mark of 239.84 as action progressed. On the whole, the Japanese yen is near a weekly low against its British counterpart.

Against the euro, the yen saw some weakness in trading on Monday. As action headed into the afternoon, the currency edged down to a mark of 162.65. In general, the Japanese currency has moved little against the euro since last Wednesday, keeping near a three week high.

Versus the dollar, the Japanese currency saw some weakness in action on Monday. By the mid afternoon, the currency had edged down to a mark of 121.78. Overall, the Japanese yen is near a week and a half low against the American dollar.

The Japanese economy expanded 0.8% in the first quarter, higher than the preliminary estimate of 0.6%. The revised growth matched market expectation.
