Dollar Mixed Against Southeast Asian Currencies On Wednesday, Wednesday, June 20, 2007 3:29:29 AM

The US dollar saw a mixed dealing against the Southeast Asian currencies on Wednesday in Asia. The US dollar lost ground against its Singapore and the Malaysian counterparts. On the other hand, the dollar largely moved sideways versus the Hong Kong dollar, but it held steady with the Thai Baht.

Against the Indian Rupee, the dollar gained during the Asian session, but it was down versus the Philippine peso. To the South Korean Won, the dollar fell sharply at the beginning of the session but it entered a tight range soon after. Lately the dollar reversed most of its losses.

During the Asian deals on Wednesday, the US currency traded down versus the Singapore dollar. The Greenback touched a low of 1.5336 at 10:10 pm ET Tuesday and this was a low for the pair since June 7. Thereafter, the pair moved sideways but it gained some pips at 1:20 am ET. As of 3:27 am Eastern Time, the pair traded at 1.5364.

Against the Hong Kong dollar, the Greenback ticked down in the early Asian deals on Wednesday. At about 8:55 pm ET, the pair strengthened slightly and then moved sideways between 7.8153 and 7.8177.

The US dollar held steady versus the Thai Baht during the early Asian deals on Wednesday. Of late the pair has been continuing the same trend and as of 3:27 am Eastern Time, the pair was quoted at 32.4450.

Drifting lower in the Asian deals on Wednesday, the US dollar traded at 3.4255 against its Malaysian counterpart by about 10:50 pm ET Tuesday. Soon after, the dollar advanced slightly and followed a sideways movement.

In the Asian deals on Wednesday, the Greenback declined versus the Philippine peso and the pair hit as low as 45.75 by about 9:55 pm ET. The pair then strengthened slightly and entered a loose range. The range was limited between 45.80 and 46.74.

The US dollar showed strength versus the Indian Rupee during the early dealing in Asia on Wednesday. The uptrend helped the dollar to collect as much as 40.87 by about 11:55 pm ET Tuesday. Soon after, the dollar slipped slightly and followed a sideways movement which was limited between 40.80 and 40.83.

The US dollar fell sharply against the South Korean Won as the Wednesday`s deal started in Asia. The dollar thus lost ground from 928.90 to 925.10 at 8:05 pm ET Tuesday. Thereafter, the pair entered a tight range but it bounced back most of its losses at 12:45 am ET Wednesday. As of now, the pair is trading at 927.75.
