Asia/Pacific Economic News Preview Thursday, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 1:14:50 PM

Japan will dominate news from the Asia/Pacific region on Thursday. Australia will also be reporting on weekly wages. Meanwhile, New Zealand will chime in with Visitor Arrivals and its Budget report from Finance Minister Cullen for 2007-2008.

The Bank of Japan will announce its rate decision on Thursday. Currently, the rate is at 0.50%. Analysts expect the BoJ to keep the number unchanged in tomorrow`s data. The Bank of Japan will also release its monthly report later in the day, as well as holding a press conference with Governor Fukui. Other news from Japan will inclue Tokyo Condominium sales for April on an annual basis.

Australia will announce its average weekly wages for the its February quarter on Thursday. The previous quarter posted a rate of 0.7%, while the prior year quarter saw 3.2%. Other news from the area will inclue Consumer Inflation Expectation for May and RBA Foreign Exchange Transactions for April in Australian dollars.
