Greenback Shows Weakness Against Singapore And Canadian Counterparts, Wednesday, July 04, 2007 7:41:37 AM

The U.S. currency showed weakness against its Singapore and the Canadian counterparts during the European session on Wednesday. But the Greenback moved sideways against the New Zealand Kiwi and the Australian dollar.

However, in the Asian deals, the Greenback showed choppy trading versus the Singapore dollar but it slipped against the rest of majors. The Greenback was down against the Aussie amid the release of the RBA rate decision. As widely expected, the Reserve Bank of Australia left its cash rate target unchanged at 6.25%.

The US markets are closed today on behalf of the Independence day holiday.

During the Asian session on Wednesday, the U.S. currency drifted down versus the Australian dollar. This came amid the release of the Reserve Bank of Australia`s unchanged rate decision. The downtrend pushed the Greenback to hit as low as 2.8589 at 2:35 am Eastern Time. Thereafter, the Greenback gained a few pips and moved sideways between 2.8569 to 2.8582. As of 7:40 am ET, the pair traded at 0.8576.

Against the New Zealand Kiwi, the U.S. currency dropped in the Asian deals on Wednesday. After hitting a low of 0.7835 at 1:55 am ET, the Greenback advanced slightly but it showed a choppy trend during the European session. As of 7:40 am Eastern Time, the pair was quoted at 0.7817.

The U.S. currency trended lower versus the Canadian dollar during the Asian session on Wednesday. The pair added to its losses in the European session and touched a low of 1.0554 at 5:20 am Eastern Time. The Greenback then picked up some pips and collected 1.0588 as of 7:40 am ET.

Against the Singapore dollar, the U.S. currency weakened slightly in the early Asian deals on Wednesday. At about 9:15 pm Eastern Time Tuesday, the pair bounced back completely and then showed a choppy trend. However, during the early European session, the Greenback lost ground and has been moving further lower of late. As of 7:40 am ET, the pair was worth 1.5204.
